Cuban pianist, composer and jazz musician Chucho Valdes and his band The Afrocuban Messengers won the Special Award at the 2012 International Cubadisco Fair with his record Chucho´s Steps.

Produced by the Colibri Label belonging to the Cuban Music Institute, the record includes 8 tracks that perfectly mix the main features of Latin jazz with Afro Cuban music genres.

Cubadisco´s Grand Prix went to Veinte Pianos (Twenty Pianos) by Ernan Lopez-Nussa, who also won awards in the Educational, CD-DVD and best producer categories.

Other productions that received awards included Jose Luis Cortes and NG la Banda for Mis 22 Años, 30 años by Son 14; and Sueños del pequeño Quin by Joaquín Betancourt.

The International Award went to Calle 13 and Italy’sGianlucaGrignanifor their latest productions Que entren los que quieran andRomántico Rock Show.
