Picasso Tours Eastern Cuba
A collection of the famous series “Imaginary Portraits” by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso is on display for the first time in the city of Bayamo, in eastern Granma province.
The artistic sample includes 29 works made in 1969, which were already exhibited in the Cuban cities of Pinar del Rio, Matanzas, Trinidad, Camaguey and Holguin.
The collection was donated to Cuba by U.S.artist and critic Gilbert Brownstone, who heads a foundation in Paris. Brownstone previously donated four lithographs by Spain’s Antoni Tapies to Cuba. He later brought to the island a 120-piece collection by artists such as Joan Miro, Andy Warhol, Marcel Duchamp and Picasso.
