Havana, Apr 26 (Prensa Latina-RHC) A group of seven countries that belonged to the former Soviet Union celebrated the twentieth anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations with Cuba, in a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry in Havana on Wednesday. The event was attended by diplomatic representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine.All the representatives referred to the will to strengthen and expand the traditional bilateral relations based on friendship and mutual respect. Vladimir Astapenka, Ambassador of Belarus, said he appreciated the signing of more than 20 commercial and interstate agreements in areas such as sports, health, and culture, and highlighted bilateral cooperation in others such as scientific-technical and academic.

Havana, April 26 (RHC) Esteban Lazo Hernández, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, urged the capital's workers to demonstrate their strength, unity and courage on May Day. In a preparation meeting for the International Workers' Day Festivities, Lazo, also the vice-chairman of the State Council, called on Havana residents to come to the José Martí Revolution Square next Tuesday to display the discipline and cohesion that characterizes the Cuban people.

Havana, April 26 (RHC) The Cuban television program, the Mesa Redonda, or the Round Table, announced that this year’s May Day march would also be dedicated to the fight for the freedom of the Cuban Five.
Graciela Ramírez, coordinator of the International Committee to Free the Cuban Five, and Arleen Rodríguez Derivet, the panel moderator, explained that the celebrations of March 1st will be devoted in part to calling for the return of the Cuban heroes. Ramírez mentioned the success of the recent events carried out for the Five, consisting of 296 actions in 60 countries. Among the actions was lobbying to Congress in Washington D.C., where the activists were able to present the case to 20 Senators and 26 members of Congress. Read more...
