Non-Aligned Movement Summit Ends in Iran

Tehran, August 31 (RHC)-- The 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement ended two days of high level meetings on Friday in Tehran, the Iranian capital.  Heads of State and government of member nations addressed the great challenges ahead in the political, economic and social areas, with a renewed call for a new international order.

Honduran Teachers Go on Strike

U.S. Justice Dept. Rejects Prosecutions for CIA Torture

Washington, August 31 (RHC)-- The U.S. Justice Department has announced it will not prosecute anyone involved in the killing and torturing of prisoners in CIA custody after a three-year investigation.  The Justice Department had been probing the deaths of two men: one in Iraq, and one in Afghanistan.

Eurozone Unemployment Hits New High

Brussels, August 31 (RHC)-- Unemployment across the 17-nation Eurozone hit a record 18 million in July, according to the EU statistics agency.  While some 88,000 more people were added to the jobless total, upwardly-revised data for June meant the unemployment rate remained at 11.3%.
