Cuba Registers Growth in Tourism in the First Trimester of the Year

Havana, April 22 (RHC) The tourism sector in Cuba registered an increase of 5.3 percent at the close of the first trimester, in comparison with last year´s data.

The Office of National Statistics and Information confirmed that more than 950,000 visitors have arrived to Cuba so far this year. Their website stated that the official number is 48,214 more than at this time in 2011, and that March had a particularly high level compared to other years, most likely due to the visit of Pope Benedict 16th. The increment is also attributed to the strong promotion campaign. developed by the Ministry of Tourism in Latin American and European countries, called “Authentic Cuba.”
