Cuban and Finnish Diplomats Meet in Havana
Havana, April 26 (AC-RHC) Representatives from the Cuban and Finnish Foreign Ministries met on Wednesday in Havana, where they expressed their common interest in strengthening bilateral ties in several sectors.
The visiting delegation, headed by Roy Eriksson, Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Foreign Ministry of Finland, held talks with the director for Europe and Canada of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Relations (MINREX), Ernesto Senti, and with other local officials.
According to a MINREX communiqué, the meeting allowed both sides to discuss the current state of bilateral relations and the possibilities to strengthen them “on the basis of mutual respect.”
Also on Wednesday, Eriksson met with Ramon Pez Ferro, president of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Cuban National Assembly (Parliament), and he visited places of socio-economic interest in the Cuban capital. Talks between Cuba and European Union countries have recently been increasing. These contacts included Cuba’s Deputy Foreign Minister Dagoberto Rodriguez´s recent tour around Europe, with stops in Germany, Belgium and France.
