Obama has brought No Change to US´s Hostile Cuba Policy
Havana, May 10 (RHC)-- Nearly four years after Barack Obama took power, expectations for a change in Washington’s Cuba policy are far off from reality, said a high-ranking Cuban diplomat.
While Obama took some measures considered as positive for US-Cuba relations, major aspects of the US policy towards the island have not been modified, said the director of the North America Division at Cuba´s Foreign Ministry, Josefina Vidal..gif)
In statements to CNN in Spanish, the Cuban official said economic sanctions like the blockade, which has inflicted Cuba damage calculated at 975 billion dollars, continue unchanged, PL news agency reported.
Vidal also said that Washington has not yet revised the so-called programs to promote a change in Cuba, which she described as illegal actions aimed at provoking a regime change on the island.
Radio and TV transmissions against Cuba are still active, while the country continues to be blacklisted by the US Department of State in an effort to discredit the Caribbean island.
The Cuban government official reiterated Cuba´s willingness to hold a political dialog with Washington about all problems in order to identify areas of common interest and boost bilateral cooperation.
