European Solidarity Activist Says U.S. Blockade is a Crime

Havana, July 16 (RHC) -- The U.S.economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba is a crime against international law, said Spanish activist Enrique Fernandez, who is visiting the island with the Jose Marti Solidarity Brigade.

altFernandez said the U.S.measure is a deliberate action aimed at strangling the Cuban people, whom he called an example of resistance.

In statements to Prensa Latina news agency, the European activist expressed his interest in returning soon to Cuba with the solidarity group, which began its program on the island by joining voluntary work in agricultural areas.

The group, which is made up of 100 activists from 17 countries, is currently touring local communities, schools and production centers in the western province of Pinar del Rio.

The Jose Marti Solidarity Brigade has made over 40 trips to Cuba over the past years.  Some of the countries represented by the brigade include Germany, Austria, Spain, Belarus, Finland, Denmark, Italy and Turkey.
