Havana, July 20 (RHC) -- A recently implemented credit policy has benefited nearly 50,000 citizens, who applied for credit lines to repair homes, or boost other construction projects, said the president of the Cuban Central Bank Ernesto Medina in his report to Cuban lawmakers on Thursday.

In all, the bank has granted credit lines for an amount of 347 million Cuban pesos and the growing tendency will continue as the institutions involved in the initiative are expanding the access of the population to credits, said the official.

The new credit policy also benefits the agricultural and sugar sector as it encourages their productions, the president of the Central Bank told deputies, who also referred to the need to make credit lines benefit the growth of labor capital.
