President Raul Castro Presides over Plenary Session of the PCC’s Central Committee
Havana, July 23 (RHC) -- Cuban President Raul Castro presided over Sunday the 4th Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), Granma newspaper reported.
During the session, Cuban Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura reported on the work of the Central Committee, implementing the guidelines approved by the 6th PCC Congress.
Machado Ventura also spoke about the fulfilment of the goals of the First National Conference of the Communist Party, held at the beginning of 2012.
According to Granma, participants in the plenary session analyzed information collected at workplaces, schools, and grass-roots organizations nation wide, as well as in direct exchanges with dozens of thousands of Cubans.
Among the priorities, they discussed the compliance with the economic plans, financial problems, the management system, an ongoing reduction of bloated posts in the state sector and the self-employment sector. Investments, technological and constructive maintenances, exports, and replacing imports were also discussed.
The updating of the PCC leading documents and the immediate application of a group of measures that do not require further action were also analyzed during the meeting.
The plenary also tackled Raul Castro's visits to China, Vietnam and Russia, which contributed to strengthened Cuban ties with those three countries.
