Cuban Electoral Commissions Ready for Municipal Vote

Havana, August 4 (RHC)-- Over 14,100 electoral commissions throughout the island are intensifying their preparations for the nomination of candidates to be elected delegates to Municipal Assemblies of People’s Powers, or local governments.

The nomination process is scheduled to take place in September, Granma daily newspaper announced in an article about ongoing preparations for general elections, whose first round will take place October 21st to elect municipal delegates. If none of the candidates proposed in a given constituency gets more than half of the valid votes, a second round of elections will take place October 28th.

Those elected in October will take office for a two and half year term at municipal governments.
