Cuba to Open First Photovoltaic Solar Energy Park
Havana, August 9 (RHC)-- Mario Alberto Arrastra, a specialist from Cubaenergía, informed the press that Cuba is building its first photovoltaic solar energy park this year. He said that in line with Cuba´s goal to decrease the traditional use of combustible fossil fuels, the center will produce more than 500 megawatts of solar energy, increasing that amount by 10 in 2013.
Arrastra said that the construction of a wind energy park of 50 megawatts in Las Tunas will begin in 2013. He added that technical analysts recommend that up to 600 megawatts of wind energy could be installed, and that renewable energy technologies and use of solar energy should be used in all buildings that permit it, especially in buildings being built with new investments.
