Academic Studies Are Crucial for Tourism Development
Lourdes Cisneros, Dean of the Tourism Faculty at the University of Havana, said academic studies are crucial for the sector’s development.
In statements to the daily newspaper Granma, Cisneros said that the implementation of strategies towards the sector’s comprehensive development depends largely on the significant contribution by academic and research studies.
The expert said: “We are talking here about better trained students. We should provide courses of foreign languages and general culture, and instill in all our students high and strong ethical and moral value, as these are all very important aspects when offering any service to foreign visitors.”
She stressed that academic training is ever-more important as tourism has become one of the country’s main revenue sources.
The expert explained that the sector’s workers may also get master’s degrees in different specialties with more than 300 graduates so far.
