Bolivia Has Proof of U.S. Intervention in Its Internal Affairs
La Paz, January 7 (Xinhua-RHC) -- Bolivia said Sunday it has “irrefutable proof” of U.S. attempts to “damage and destabilize” its government and offered to submit it to U.S. President Barack Obama.
Citing Minister of the Presidency Juan Ramon Quintana, the state media report said the Unite States was using its embassy in La Paz to “damage the image and prestige” of Bolivian President Evo Morales's government “with the aim of toppling it.”
Minister Quintana said: “There is so much evidence to submit as proof to Obama;” adding that Washington is unhappy with Morales's anti neo-liberal policies of nationalizing natural resources and other socialist reforms.
The official added: “In Bolivia, this process of change sets a bad example for the United States” and Washington would not tolerate “in the heart of South America a country that sets a bad example for the rest of the world.”
The relationship between the two countries has been strained since Bolivia expelled U.S. Ambassador Philip Goldberg in 2008, accused of conspiring against the state.
