Dilma Rousseff Highlights Women’s Decisive Role in Society
Brasilia, March 5 (RHC) -- Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff highlighted women’s indispensable and increasing role in society, as heads of families, workers and those responsible for the training and education of millions of children and young people.
Speaking during her weekly Monday radio program ‘Coffee with the President’, dedicated to International Women’s Day, the Brazilian stateswoman said: “The path to conquest women’s rights is long and we can not ignore the sad reality of violence that many Brazilian women are subjected to.”
Also during her talk show, Rousseff referred to government programs in the health sector that have benefited women, including actions to prevent, diagnose and treat breast and cervix cancer, as well as projects against gender-based violence.
In addition, President Dilma Rousseff defended a greater participation of women in the country’s social, political, economic and cultural life together with men, and said her government will continue implementing policies to empower women.
