36 militants killed in Pakistan raid
Islamabad, March 19, (RHC), -- At least 36 militants were killed in retaliatory military operations carried out by government forces in tribal regions of northwestern Pakistan.
Following a recent militant attack on a security checkpoint in the tribal region, Pakistani aircrafts bombarded militant hideouts in Orkazai Agency on Sunday, killing 16 militants and wounding many others.
Security forces also pounded militant positions in different areas of Kurram Agency, killing 20 militants and injuring 18 others.
Also on Sunday, suspected pro-Taliban militants blew up a primary school in Mardan district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, with no casualties reported.
Over the past several years, militants have destroyed hundreds of schools, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, previously known as North-West Frontier Province. /PRESSTV
