Spanish Pilots from Iberia Airlines on Strike
Madrid, April 13 (RHC) On Friday, pilots from Spain’s Iberia airline began the second of the 30 days strike scheduled through the end of July.
These strikes are in protest of the company’s plans to create a low-cost branch. Thirty six percent of flights covering national, European and transoceanic destinations have been cancelled this Friday as a consequence of the strike.
The pilots are in opposition to the decision of taking 40 airplanes from the head office to use in the new branch, which would put eight thousand jobs on the line.
