Port-au-Prince, April 13 (RHC) -- The Mexican President, Felipe Calderón, expressed his commitment to take part in the mechanism of health cooperation from Cuba and Venezuela to support the Haitian nation.

Martelly announced the disposition of Calderon to include Mexico in such a mechanism at a press conference. This was the main issue discussed in the official conversations on Friday.

Both Presidents re-established the joint commission of cooperation which was suspended since 2007, as well as a technical-scientific agreement and a program to assist Haitians attempting to immigrate from Mexico to the United States.

Martelly also announced the proposal of Calderon to open approximately 300 scholarships and a technician cooperation to carry out local elections.

The Haitian President ratified the significance of the Mexican investment in the economy of his nation, which he considers a prerequisite to achieve social stability.

President Calderón also expressed the disposition of his government to promote the cooperation with Haiti.
