ALBA Nations Pay Tribute to Late Nicaraguan Leader Tomas Borge

Caracas, May 5 (RHC) -- The Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA), lamented the recent death of Tomás Borge, the last surviving founder of the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua.

In a statement issued in Caracas, the regional organization said Borge’s death was a terrible loss for the continent, as he was one of the most ardent promoters of regional unity and integration. The text also expressed the group’s sympathy to the people and government of Nicaragua.

Also in the statement, the ALBA nations stated that the Nicaraguan fighter was an example of dignity and patriotism, and was consistent with the ideas of redemption of humanity, which should be the model for new generations of revolutionaries on the continent.
