Attacks kill NATO soldier, eight Afghan police officers
Kabul, May 30 (RHC), - A soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has been killed in a bomb attack in Afghanistan, as escalating rebel violence has taken the lives of eight Afghan police officers, official sources announced on Wednesday.
NATO confirmed the dead of the trooper on Wednesday, but did not provide the nationality of the soldier or the exact location of the event.
The occupying forces´ death toll increased to 173 from January 2012 to the present time.
On the other hand, Afghan rebels attacked a police checkpoint in Wardan district, in the northern province of Badakhsan, killing eight officers.
The province government spokesman, Abdul Maruf Rasikh, told the press that a group of the Taliban attacked a police checkpoint in Ghania town, in Wardoj district. Eight police officers and two rebels died. /PL
