Iran Welcomes Willingness of Five plus One Group to Consider Nuclear Proposal
Tehran, June 12 (RHC)—Iran welcomed the willingness of six world powers to consider its five-point proposal at upcoming nuclear negotiations in Moscow, and said that to be successful the dialog has to count on a positive approach and cooperation by the West.
Sources with Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that European Union foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton expressed the willingness of the Five plus One Group, which are the permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany, to listen the Iranian offer, PL news agency reported.
Ashton, who represents the Five plus One group, talked on the phone with the secretary of Iran’s National Security Supreme Council and negotiator of nuclear issues Saeed Jalili to express her confidence that both sides will find agreement.
Jalili stressed the need for respect to previous accords reached in talks held in Istanbul and Bagdad in order to advance in upcoming Moscow negotiations, to take place June 18 and 19.
Iranproposed France, the United States, the U.K., Russia, China and Germany a five-point agenda which includes international issues such as nuclear disarmament and actions to dissipate doubts about the peaceful nature of its nuclear energy program.
