12 Taliban militants killed in Afghan army raid
Kabul, July 11, (RHC), -- Some 12 Taliban militants have been killed and 20 others captured after Afghan military forces, backed by NATO troops carried out an offensive against the armed Islamist movement across the country in the past 24 hours.
A statement issued Wednesday by the Afghan Interior Ministry said that Afghan police, army and NATO coalition forces launched nine joint cleanup operations in Kunar, Balkh, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Khost, Farah and Helmand provinces.
During the raid, 12 Taliban militants were killed and 20 others detained, added the report.
Afghan Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that the country’s security forces and US-led foreign troopers had killed 28 Taliban militants and detained 31 others during 10 cleanup operations a day earlier. /PRESSTV
